What’s open, what’s not this coming long weekend
Homeowners will need to put their garbage out a day later next week.
Due to the Civic Holiday, there will be no curbside garbage and recycling pickup on Monday, Aug. 4. The Monday pickup will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
In addition, the curbside collection of garbage and recycling materials will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
While multi-residential recycling container collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week, multi-residential garbage container collection is not delayed and collection will take place on its regular scheduled day during the week.
OC Transpo will operate on a Sunday schedule on Aug. 4, with extra service added to routes 8 and 95.
The City of Ottawa is reminding residents of the following schedule changes for the Monday, Aug. 4 Civic Holiday.
- Ottawa City Hall and all six Client Service Centres will be closed on Monday, Aug. 4. Business will resume as usual on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
- The City’s Provincial Offences Court, located at 100 Constellation Cres., will be closed on Monday, Aug. 4. Business will resume as usual on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
- OC Transpo Sales and Information Centres will be closed Aug. 4, with the exception of the Rideau Centre office, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- The OC Transpo telephone information centre (613-741-4390) will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Aug. 4, while customer relations (613-842-3600) will be closed.
- Some pools, arenas and fitness centers will be open on Monday, Aug. 4 for public swimming, skating and fitness classes with modified schedules. Please check with the facility of your choice for details. Most registered programs at swimming pools, community centres and arenas are cancelled on Monday, Aug. 4, however, clients should check with their facility to confirm, as some exceptions will apply. City operated child care centres will be closed on Monday, Aug. 4.
- All branches of the Ottawa Public Library are closed Monday, Aug. 4 and there will be no bookmobile service. Regular branch hours and bookmobile service will resume Tuesday, Aug. 5.
- Although municipal offices are closed on Monday, Aug. 4, should an urgent matter develop which requires the city's immediate attention, client service representatives are available by calling 3-1-1 or 613-580-2400, (TTY/Teletypewriters only: 613-580-2401).
