St. Jean Baptiste Day events
With the arrival of summer and St. Jean Baptiste Day the West Island will be booming with events to celebrate. Each city will be organizing a variety of events that will take place.
Pierrefonds/Roxboro and Ile Bizard/Ste. Genevieve:
Pierrefonds will be celebrating St. Jean Baptiste Day in collaboration with Ile Bizard and Ste. Genevieve. On June 23 from 6 p.m. to midnight there will be a mix of activities and ongoing events to keep everyone entertained. Early in the evening children will be entertained by Zack, the mascot of Ile Bizard and Sainte-Genevieve and other public entertainers. Activities include face painting and inflatable games. For the older crowds the Master of Hypnosis Pierre-Olivier Cyr will enthrall all from 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. All throughout the night the band Les Tireux d’Roches will be performing 40 minute acts at 8:30 p.m., 9:20 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. Ending the night with a big bang the Fireworks will take place at 10 p.m.

Take note that Montée de L’Église will be closed from 6 p.m. to midnight from Cherrier Street to Chevremont Boulevard. In case of rain all events will be moved to the Sociocultural Centre ,490 Montée de l’Église in Ile Bizard.

Dorval:
Dorval will be celebrating St. Jean Baptiste Day with activities taking place at Millennium Park on Lakeshore Drive. Beginning at 3 p.m. there will be numerous activities to keep everybody in the family entertained. For the younger children, ages 3-12, fun games and inflatable setups await including the Aquatic Giant, the Tropical Adventure and the Northern Express just to name a few. Other exciting happenings include face paintings (make-up) and a balloon stand; also magicians will be there to perform some tricks to amaze the inner kid in everyone.For more information visit www.ville.dorval.qc.ca.
Beaconsfield:
Beaconsfield will be doing its part in celebrating St. Jean Baptiste Day. In honouring the 400th anniversary of Quebec, Beaconsfield has organized events exploring traditional aspects to New France French culture including demonstrations of dance, music and crafts. Ongoing activities planned throughout the day include a miniature horses set up, a mini sailboat regatta, an outdoor art exhibition with 20 artists and sculptors, a Pirate Corner will be set up from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. As well as many other games and crafts for the kids. Although there will be a BBQ for all to enjoy the city of Beaconsfield is encouraging its residents to think green and asks that you bring your own water bottle as they will not be selling bottled water on site.

Pointe Claire:
Pointe-Claire will be hosting a St Jean Baptiste family day celebration to take place a Bourgeau Park. The fun begins at 1 p.m. including musical shows, public swimming, a family picnic and inflatables for the kids. St. Lazare :
St. Lazare Celebrations 2008 combine St Jean Baptiste Day and Canada Day. activities from June 22 to July 1.

June 22: Club Optimiste in collaboration with St Lazare is organizing a soap box race from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Chemin Sainte-Angélique will be closed between Rue Charles Goulet and Avenue Bédard.

June 24: St. Jean Baptiste Day parade from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please note that Montée Saint Robert, Chemin Sainte Angélique, Rue des Cèdres, Rue Denis, Rue des Violettes and Rue des Marguerites will all be closed entirely or partially to make way for the parade.
